Review of the Aviya Mattress – Jenn’s Take
Since Carla’s been writing about mattresses lately, why not join in and contribute?
I’ve always liked spring mattresses. Our last mattress was a Tempur and to be honest, it was just ‘meh. I never liked it but it did do what it was supposed to do and I have no complaints about that. I just found that it was too “flat”. I want some bounce because as far as I’m concerned, sleeping is only secondary when it comes to mattresses, if you know what I mean.
Having said that, here’s my review of the Aviya mattress.
We’ll start with the price of the mattress. We ordered a king sized one about a year and a half ago because my husband is a big guy and a queen just doesn’t cut it, his feet would hang and I can only imagine how uncomfortable that would be.
We bought the mattress for a whopping $1399 and at that time, I thought that it was too expensive. Even now, I think it’s a bit expensive (I’m a cheapskate) but I think that it was worth it, could have been a bit more budget friendly though, but I digress.
While I’m here complaining about the price, don’t let that fool you into thinking that the mattress is overpriced. In fact, if you compare it to a lot of spring mattresses out there, you will find that it is a lot cheaper even though it is made with more quality materials. How do I know that they use quality materials? Well, for one, they told me, the guys at Aviya, and number two, we’ve been using it for over a year and it still feels “like” the day we first used it.
The Aviya Mattress
The Aviya mattress is an online exclusive mattress that can be bought either on Amazon or their official website, I recommend buying it on their website.
It is an innerspring mattress with several foams in the comfort layer and it is quite simplistic in design as compared to other mattresses but what’s important is that it works fine. The foams used in the mattress are all high density, or so I’m told.
If you buy one, you have the option of choosing the firmness, we chose the luxury firm or what is essentially, a medium. You can choose either soft, luxury firm or firm, your basic stuff. Both me and my husband are primarily back sleepers so medium is perfect for us.
The mattress has been used almost everyday, unless we’re out on vacation and it still feels good and there are no signs of it wearing down. For this, I’m very happy. It’s a good investment and I highly recommend this mattress.
When we first started looking at mattresses, all I wanted was a spring one, didn’t know or care about the other details and boy, was I wrong to think like that. My husband did all the research and as referenced in the guide that Carla wrote, it really is important that you know at least something about mattresses before going out and spending on one.
If we bought something without knowing important details, I’m sure we would have been ripped off. I’m thankful that my husband took the time to research everything and we ended up with an excellent mattress.
