Growin' Together shares the values of community, creativity, and sustainability with kids ages 4-12 through a variety of hands-on group projects led by community artisans. We emphasize team-building, group decision-making, life skills, conflict resolution, and freedom of choice. We’re located at Casa de Luz in South Austin.
Creative Expression: We always offer a wide variety of art supplies and students direct their projects with support from adult artisans.
Boundaries: Our students learn to say clearly what they need and to hear the needs of others in their community.
Conflict Resolution: Our kids resolve their problems through skilled mediation that helps them identify everyone’s feelings and needs and come to their own resolution.
Integrity: Students create and enforce their own behavioral expectations and our staff consistently hold them to their agreements.
Cooperation & Teamwork: All of our projects are collaborative, and our staff manage behavior by appealing to a child's natural desire to be in connection with the community.
Self-Direction: Students choose how to spend their time and create their own projects and games.
Physical Expression: Students run and play with their full bodies as much as is agreed upon within the safe boundaries.
Diversity: We actively include students of different ages, backgrounds and ability levels.
Growin' Together creates an environment where youth can grow into themselves by growing closer to others. We provide opportunities for young people to enjoy the joy of childhood while gaining skills to succeed in life. We believe that with the right combination of freedom and love, our youth will build a healthy, beautiful, sustainable world.
A place where kids can enjoy childhood while gaining the skills to succeed in life.
